Welcome to The Ruel Foundation

The Ruel Foundation is a faith based, humanitarian organisation that provides free medical aid to children with physical deformities such as cleft lip and palate in developing nations. Surgeries are done in the child's own nation by local surgeons. For as little as $US375 a child can receive corrective surgery for a cleft lip or palate from surgeons in the Philippines and Fiji

We also run a fifty bed children's crisis centre for small children living in poverty and in life threatening situations such as starvation, physical abuse or abandonment.

Our commitment to the physical and spiritual welfare of children living in poverty with physical disabilities in developing nations is not only changing lives but changing communities. Children are now recovering their self esteem, going back to school, getting an education, daring to dream of being a pilot, fireman, nurse or teacher.

The Ruel Foundation is a fully registered Charitable Trust in New Zealand (CC11212) and the USA (501c3).

Our Children's Crisis Centre (known as 'Ruel House') is comprised of two buildings located beside each other. Our staff house accommodates staff, guests and parents while our children's home is a fully equipped children's crisis centre capable of accommodating up to fifty children.

A STORY FROM RUEL FOUNDATION FIJI

The day my adorable son was born I felt so much love pouring out from my heart, he was born with a cleft lip and palate. I wondered what I had done wrong during my pregnancy to cause this. My husband and two other children loved him the first moment they laid eyes on him.

He struggled to breastfeed, his weight dropped, I was told to feed him with a syringe. A friend helped us by getting us a special bottle to feed him with. I wished my son did not have this problem.

One day I heard of a field officer who could offer us hope, we could have surgery for our little boy. The day of the surgery I did not want to let him go, the surgeon said "Trust us, we are going to make him even more beautiful when this is all over" those were the words that let my arms stretch to release him. When it was over my family and I had witnessed a miracle, our little champion had had a total makeover. Our eyes glowed with amazement and tears. Vinaka-vakalevu
